Social Responsibility


Partners of the firm are also community orientated and both Michael Forsyth and Anthony Jenkins are current and past committee members of the Pietermaritzburg Legal Circle which liaises with different government departments in an effort to ensure the smooth running of the administration of justice in Pietermaritzburg. Michael and Anthony were also involved with the Legali Train project which was a project designed to bring free legal service to disadvantaged communities in Pietermaritzburg

Michael is the Chairman of the Hilton Pre-Primary School Trust and is also a trustee of the Laddsworth School Trust.

Richard Scott spent many years involved with Round Table and ended up as the Area Chairman of Round Table for the Drakensberg Area and also served on the National Council of Round Table in South Africa. He is also a trustee on the Board of Trustees of Epworth School.

Callum Smythe was the President of the Michaelhouse Old Boys Club and in that capacity sat on the Board of Governors of Michaelhouse School.

Colin Boyes has been a member of the Governing Body of the St Christopher’s School for the learning disabled for over fifteen years and is currently the chairman of the governing body. Colin was also a member of Round Table for fourteen years.

The firm is involved with International exchanges of law students and has hosted three students from Germany over the past three years. These students gain experience in a wide area of South African law and are able to return to their countries as ambassadors for South Africa.

We also have students from local schools and universities who work at the firm during their holidays as part of a work experience programme run by us.

The firm has a well developed Skills Development Plan and has set about teaching computer and life skills to all employees from our messenging and cleaning staff through to our highest trained para-legal staff. We have employed professional trainers who train at the University of Natal in Pietermaritzburg.
